As an SAP Functional Consultant, you will bridge the gap between business needs and IT systems, leading configuration updates, troubleshooting complex cross-module workflows, and supporting an ongoing digital transformation, including a migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. You will bring deep, hands-on functional expertise across SAP FI/CO, Treasury, Joint Venture Accounting (JVA), and Production and Revenue Accounting (PRA), all within the upstream oil and gas industry. This is a contract position, and the ideal candidate has 5 to 10+ years of experience strictly within upstream oil and gas, with proven expertise in SAP FI/CO,Treasury, JVA, and PRA environments. Key Responsibilities
SAP Functional Support
- Deliver level 2 and level 3 system support across SAPFI/CO, Treasury (TRM), Joint Venture Accounting (JVA), Production and Revenue Accounting (PRA), and Fixed Asset Accounting (FI-AA) modules
- Troubleshoot daily General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable processing issues, and support Project Systems (PS) cost collection and settlement from WBS elements to fixed assets
- Resolve treasury processing errors related to Electronic Bank Statements (EBS), automated payment programs, and banking integrations, including FX translations, revaluations, and hedge accounting entries
- Troubleshoot Joint Interest Billing (JIB) Cutback processing, joint venture master data (JOAs, equity groups, partner shares), and COPAS-compliant reporting
- Support revenue distribution runs, royalty accounting, division of interest (DOI) updates, and state and federal regulatory reporting such as ONRR
- Provide functional support for the fixed asset lifecycle, depreciation runs, lease contract accounting (ASC 842 and IFRS 16), and Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO), including accretion calculations and liability revaluations
Project Solution & Design
- Partner with IT SAP Support Analysts and finance, accounting, and revenue operations stakeholders to understand upstream business needs and recommend targeted SAP and non-SAP solutions
- Support the structural migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, including pre-conversion data cleansing, Customer-Vendor Integration(CVI) mapping, and ACDOCA universal journal validation
- Configure, customize, and maintain SAP modules to support newly acquired international business properties and expanding system requirements
- Lead requirements-gathering workshops with business units to translate operational accounting objectives into clear technical designs and configurations
Incident Remediation & Enablement
- Investigate, isolate, and resolve system bugs to mitigate downtime for critical financial operations
- Partner with ABAP developers, BASIS administrators, and infrastructure teams to resolve custom code, user exit, and interface break-fixes
- Raise, monitor, and coordinate complex system issue resolutions with SAP Enterprise Support using OSS notes and incident tickets
- Track defects and user stories within Azure DevOps(ADO), and partner with automation engineers on regression testing using UiPath
- Deliver knowledge transfers and end-user training to support adoption of new features and Fiori interfaces
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or relevant work experience
- 5 to 10+ years of hands-on functional experience as an SAP Functional Consultant or Analyst strictly within the upstream oil and gas industry
- Deep configuration expertise across SAP FI/CO, Treasury (TRM), Project Systems (PS), Joint Venture Accounting (JVA), Production and Revenue Accounting (PRA), Fixed Asset Accounting (FI-AA), Asset Retirement Obligations (FI-ARO), and Lease Accounting (RE-FX/CLR)
- Strong understanding of upstream oil and gas finance, production metrics, revenue distribution, and joint interest operations
- Experience supporting SAP ECC to S/4HANA migrations, including Business Partner and CVI mapping
- Familiarity with data integration and reporting tools such as SAP CI, MuleSoft, SAP Fiori, Power BI, or Databricks
- Experience working in agile environments using Azure DevOps (ADO); exposure to UiPath or similar RPA tools is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working across multiple projects (splitting time) while meeting deadlines
- Ability to work in a hybrid or remote capacity, based in or near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
