This position will be hybrid with travel to client sites up to 50% of the time.

As a Data Visualization Engineer (BI), you will be the creative force behind how data is experienced. You will design and build intuitive dashboards, reports, and visualizations that make insights accessible and actionable for business users. Understanding the unique operations workflows of exploration, drilling, production, and other functional areas in the oil and gas industry – you can translate those needs into scalable digital solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that clearly communicate insights and trends
  • Translate business requirements into interactive BI solutions using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire
  • Develop semantic layers and reusable data models to support scalable reporting
  • Optimize queries and data models for performance, usability and responsiveness
  • Partner with data engineers and analysts to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment across reporting layers
  • Define and promote visualization standards, best practices, and storytelling techniques
  • Convert complex datasets into intuitive, user-friendly visual formats that support decision-making
  • Focus on enhancing the user experience and front-end presentation of data

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant work experience
  • Proven experience in BI development or data visualization roles
  • Expertise in one or more BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire)
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and semantic layer design
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience optimizing queries for performance
  • An eye for design, layout, and user experience in data presentation
  • Familiarity with DAX, MDX or other BI-specific languages
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles in dashboard design
  • Familiarity with upstream or midstream systems and concepts is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working multiple projects (splitting time) while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to travel to client sites on an as-needed basis
